Swiss Conference of Gender Equality Delegates

The principle of the equality of women and men has been embodied in the Swiss Constitution since 1981, and the Gender Equality Act came into effect as from 1996. Though some progress has been made, particularly in the legal domain, true equality of the sexes is still far from being a reality. And what is more, past achievements may even be in jeopardy.

Swiss Conference of Gender Equality Delegates brings together federal, cantonal and communal equality offices, and the Principality of Liechtenstein’s Office for Equality between Women and Men enjoys observer status.
The Conference supports, coordinates, plans and implements activities of national scope, takes a hand in shaping public opinion and influences federal legislation with the aim of incorporating viewpoints specific to women and gender equality concerns in order to achieve a sustainable, coherent policy on equal opportunities.
Further information about the Conference, its objectives, composition and work are available here in German, French and Italian.
